The age old question of who drives better, men versus women, is answered in the graphic below. The SWERVE Driving School in Washington gathered data that compared men and women when it came to accidents, violations, and other variables to determine which sex is the better motorist. The results of this hotly debated argument may surprise you.

Yet another misandric picture about men… For most of those who have no clue what misandry is, Google it.
This is an amazing graphic, unfortunately, it doesn’t look normalized to quantify the difference between the actual number of men drivers vs. women drivers on the roads.
My evidence is anecdotal to be certain, but in my experience as a paramedic women screw up more often, but men screw up more impressively.
And the 15% of women who admitted to using their phones are simply the only honest ones.
Bad drivers are bad drivers, and I don’t really care if men or women are statistically better or worse than the other. Besides, if these are self-reported they are probably false anyway. Even when people are assured anonymity or confidentiality they still lie to look better.
If this information is in fact correct then why am I finding myself dumbfounded by women drivers versus men drivers by at least a 4 to 1 margin? Granted I do think that men drive more aggresively than women but for shear stupidity women win the prize. Also, I have found that men are overall much more curtious than women. i.e. allowing you to merge over, allowing you into traffic etc. Women think they are the only ones on the road!
Men tend to be overly aggressive and drive too fast on the roads. Women tend to be overly cautious. Being overly aggressive will result in more accidents than being overly cautious. So, I’m not sure you can draw conclusions about “who is the ‘better’ driver” unless you define how you’re using the word “better”. I’d say that men are better drivers (in terms of being able to handle the car, especially at high speeds), but women (to their credit) aren’t driving like that, so they end up with fewer accidents. Put men and women behind the car at 100 MPH, and I’d bet men are the “better” drivers. But, judged on number of accidents, women are the better drivers because they’re less likely to put themselves into those kinds of dangerous situations.
As a side note, whenever I see a bad driver on the road, I play a game called guess the driver. If the driver is bad because they’re slow or timid, it’s generally a woman or old person. If the driver is bad because they’re overly aggressive and fast, it’s generally a young or middle-aged male.
Did they create this infographic in paint or something? Terrible quality.
Asian WOMEN are the worst drivers. Every time i’ve gone to the DMV i’ve seen Asians failing driving tests. I can back up these claims with the day to day highway drive as well.
In general I like to think men are better drivers, but only because I only remember the terrible drivers and not the bad ones.
Men are more likely to be charged for their actions than women. Women receive more “warnings” than men. These are known sexist problems that exist.
Also, according to the statistics on the page, about halfway down where it says “TOTAL*” please notice that men have driven almost 500 BILLION miles more than the cumulative for the women, close to double the amount women have driven.
No wonder it lists less accidents for them. Scale those numbers up and it’s likely equal, or worse from the info given.
I’d like to see these numbers normalized for the average number of miles driven by men vs woman. I know from personal observation that men seem to take the wheel more often than woman.
Ah well, I work in car insurance. And although women seem to be more INVOLVED in accidents; it tends to be more the mans fault. Specifically young testosterone filled males.
If you really want to know who drives more safely; just check car insurance prices. Do a number of quotes, invent personal details, and see what happens. Insurance companies know the risks.
No one ever takes into account that female drivers are “let off” by mostly male cops far far more often than male drivers. It really skews the results.
looks like a women made the infographic … cant even see whats written without zooming in. what about the difference in the actual no of male and female drivers.
This infographic takes no account of the amount of time men and women spend driving. In our society men spend much more time driving than women. You simply have to look at how many male dominated jobs require long periods of driving.. truck driver, taxi driver, delivery driver, police, tradesmen, landscaping. Most truck drivers spend 50+ hours on the road each week.
Even within families and couples, men spend more time driving.
Simply saying men have more accidents in total, and therefore women are safer, is a simplistic view that ignores important facts.
It makes about as much sense as looking at hospital admissions and finding thousands of women but only a handful of men, that reported eye injuries while applying mascara, and concluding that men must be better at applying mascara!
I don’t believe it for a minute. I used to work for AT&T and drove a phone truck around Los Angeles. Women’s judgement behind the wheel leaves a lot to be desired. Men get into accidents because they drive too fast; women get into accidents because they are not aware of their surroundings.
