BMW has launched a four-part documentary series on the future mobility, cities, and technology. The first installment of the series is called “The New City” and it looks at ideas on how transportation will change in the future.
As cities grow and so-called “megacities” take shape, urban transportation will also have to evolve. The launch of mass-marketed electric vehicles is one way that automakers are trying to better serve the needs of urban drivers. Inspiration for the documentary series even came from BMW’s own ActiveE electric vehicle.
The first film features Astronaut Buzz Aldrin; Futurist and conceptual designer for Blade Runner, Aliens and Tron, Syd Mead; Google VP Marissa Mayer; ZipCar founder Robin Chase; Treehugger.com founder Graham Hill; Ridelust.com editor-in-chief Mike Musto; Reinventing the Automobile co-author Lawrence Burns; and Director of Environmental Affairs, Richard Mattila.
The first two installments of the series can be viewed below. The remaining installments can be watched at BMWActiveTheFuture.com in the coming weeks.
