You’ve been caught red handed! But have you ever been caught…driving a red car? What about yellow? Orange? Or anything bright for that matter?
One of the oldest urban legends out there is that red cars are most likely to be pulled over by a police officer. Taking this myth one step further, many believe that a red colored car leads to more reckless driving habits while others believe that a red car just looks like it is going faster than it really is. Nonetheless, red cars stand out more, but so do all bright cars driving alongside white, silver, and black vehicles.
First off, the warm colors which include red, yellow, and orange. Red means power and actually has a physical effect, increasing the rate of respiration and raising blood pressure. Yellow is a more cheerful color all the while appearing dangerous – but not as dangerous as red. And then there is orange which stimulates healthy emotion.
The cool colors – blue, green and silver – are not as intense as the warm colors. In fact, blue is calming and peaceful, green symbolizes life, nature and growth, whereas silver is more distinguished and modern. Cool colors are more reserved, and according to Used Cars MA tend to me more common choices.
Lastly, there are the neutral colors. Black comes across as mysterious, sexy, sophisticated and white emphasizes purity, cleanliness, and innocence.
It seems as though the majority of cars we see on the road are white, silver or black, so wouldn’t statistics show that those three colors are prone to the most tickets? There are no official studies confirming the fact that red cars are pulled over more often. Many would suggest that warm colors attract more attention – police officers included.
Whatever the case, don’t fuel the fire… Drive smart, drive safe.
