New BMW Apps and ConnectedDrive System

Along with other notable New York Auto Show debuts, BMW is introducing the new generation of the ConnectedDrive System. The new ConnectedDrive system is equip with Apple Plugin integration for iPhones and iPod Touch with an app game that connects Twitter, Facebook, Pandora and web radio to iDrive without any hassle. All rendering is done on the iPhone, the center screen simply displays its activity. Also, BMW co-developed the interface displays with Apple so that Apple users could easily adjust and feel comfortable with the iDrive technology. This way music being played from your iPod will display on the iDrive interface once the Apple device is plugged into the center console.

Other features include “Automotive Grade” BMW’s Facebook and Twitter integration along with seamless internet radio connection through Pandora. “Automotive Grade” simplifies the social networking systems to make them more accessible when on the go by sending quick and easy pre-programmed posts. By pulling in hundreds of data points from the vehicle and its navigation system, “Automotive Grade” allows you to update your status on with social networking site by using location and weather information. Once the iPhone is unhooked from the cradle, users can create their own responses and updates within the app that keeps track of the same vehicle and location information.

According to Lancaster Used Cars, BMW has stated that they are currently working on apps with other companies for the iDrive integration. Apps for dining reservations or movie times are possible contributors. BMW has also expressed their desire for customer feedback in order to provide them with the best and most relevant services possible.
