If you are an automotive aficionado, mark March 2 and 3, 2010 on your calendar because Mazda Motor Corporation will release the new Mazda 5. This vehicle is a minivan, which will be officially released to the public at the Geneva Auto Show. The all-new Mazda 5 embraces Mazda’s Nagare, or flow in Japanese, design. The Mazda 5 is the first vehicle to be manufactured by Mazda with its Nagare design language. Mazda says the design is “an emotional design that blends elegance with a dynamic spirit.”
The newest version of the Mazda 5 will not go on sale publicly until fall of 2010, which will begin in Europe. Sometime in 2011 the Mazda 5 will be available to purchase in the United States, and Mazda Pittsburgh believes that the Mazda5 will be the ultimate vehicle for growing families. The features of the Mazda 5 that will be sold in Europe include the following:
· 2.0 liter direct injection gasoline engine
· Sliding rear doors
· Multiple seat arrangements
· 1.8 liter direct injection gasoline engine (for 15 percent reduction in emissions)
More details about the Mazda 5 engine and other features to be sold in the United States have yet been released to the public. There were 18,488 Mazda 5’s sold in the United States in 2009. In 2008, sales were down 16 percent, but that number was less than the industry’s 21 percent overall sales decline. This version of the Mazda 5 is sportier and smoother on the roads, making it more comfortable for everyone traveling in the vehicle.
