Honda has reluctantly embraced electric vehicle development and will launch its Fit EV in the U.S. next year. Although Honda has been more enthusiastic about hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the Fit EV should still be a formidable competitor in this small, but dynamic niche.
The recent Los Angeles Auto Show saw Honda introducing two more important pieces of its Electric Mobility Network—a comprehensive approach to reducing CO2 emissions through innovative products, energy-management and energy-production technologies—in the shape of the Honda Fit EV and a new platform for use in a coming mid-size plug-in hybrid.
