GM has introduced eAssist on the 2012 Buick LaCrosse. This mild hybrid system employs a 115-volt lithium-ion battery and 15-kilowatt electric motor to increase fuel economy by 25 percent compared to the previous four-cylinder LaCrosse. Thanks to the system’s added mileage, it will now be standard equipment on this model.
“The LaCrosse with eAssist technology is the latest example of how this successful car is shaking up the segment and helping to reinvent Buick,” said John Schwegman, vice president of Buick marketing. “It is the smart choice for those who want great fuel economy and performance in a luxury vehicle, with excellent value—the LaCrosse with eAssist will cost thousands less than competitors with similar technologies.”
