First Promo For New MINI Countryman Crossover

by Auto in the News on February 23, 2010

Mini has always retained a fun, quirky attitude. And despite throwing its hat into the ring in the crossover segment, Mini clearly isn’t planning on diluting that style anytime soon.

The promotional video for the new Mini Countryman crossover, sporting the tagline “Getaway,” has been released ahead of the vehicle’s official launch in Geneva next week. Although this first promotional video runs two minutes and thirty one seconds in length, it’s likely to provide insights into the Countryman’s impending marketing campaign here in the US. Not only does the promo continue the brand’s youthfulness, but interestingly it also shows families and children, indicating Mini’s desire to broaden its appeal.

The 2011 Mini Countryman is the BMW-owned brand’s first crossover vehicle. Power for the base Countryman is supplied by a  1.6-liter four cylinder engine making 120 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. The performance tuned Mini Cooper S Countryman features a 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbocharged four cylinder engine which produces 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft. of torque.
