Move over Mini Cooper, here comes the A1. Described by Audi as a “city-friendly three-door premium hatchback”, the Audi A1 will strive to be the sportiest and must luxurious car in its class.
Have a look:
With the freedom to customize colors, materials, and equipment, Audi is giving their customers the ability to truly make the A1 their own.
There are also three different trims available: entry-level, Sport, and the S-Line. Sports seats are included on the Sport and S-Line trims, while heated leather seats are also an option. Audi also has an “infotainment” system that incorporates 20Gb of hard drive space for music and a navigation system. Big fun for a small car.
The 1.2-litre engine will come with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the 1.4 will come with a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed S-tronic twin-clutch transmission. It takes approximately 9.1 seconds for the 1.4 TFSI to go 0-60 with a top speed of 124mph.
Sure, it looks good, but when will it be available in the United States? The Audi A1 was planned to be available in the U.S. for 2010, but recent media reports have stated that Audi is delaying their U.S. release. Research has found that the A1 may be too expensive for the American market, so hopefully we will see the A1 when it is redesigned for its second generation, but that is unlikely to happen before 2015.
