A (Mostly) Stock Nissan Leaf Wins Pikes Peak Hill Climb

Nissan Leaf at Pikes Peak Hill Climb imageThe Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a unique competition where cars and motorcycles attempt to reach the summit of the Pikes Peak in Colorado — a distance of more than 12 miles — in record time. According to Bremerton Used Cars, the climb’s 156 turns make this task especially daunting. Despite the rigors of this climb, the Nissan Leaf conquered Pikes Peak and left other EVs in its dust.

“The Leaf was great fun to drive up the mountain” said Hord. “With the instant torque from the electric motor we were able to jump out of the many slow corners and the performance was very consistent from the bottom to the top since the electric motor wasn’t affected by the high altitude near the summit like the gasoline powered cars.”
