By dropping some extra weight and including a 2.0 liter horizontally-opposed-four-cylinder engine, the 2012 Subaru Impreza is now the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive car in the U.S. The new 2012 Impreza debuted its sleeker design at the New York Auto Show this week. The Impreza achieves 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway with 148 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also the roomiest Impreza model ever due to the longer wheelbase which also helps create better driving visibility.
The exterior design draws from the 2010 Legacy model and displays Subaru’s bold sporty nature. Hawkeye headlights, hexagonal grille, sharp lines and large wheel covers give the Impreza and impressive look that is unique in its category. Inside the comfort level is heightened with higher seatbacks, extra lumbar support, and rear end collision prepared seats. Steering wheel Bluetooth and audio (including iPod) controls give drivers control while optimizing safety.
The fun to drive sports car component is created with strengthened rear and front suspension and vibration decreasing liquid hydraulic engine mounts. Also the 2.0 liter Boxer engine feels more responsive than the older 2.5 liter engine because of the Impreza’s lighter weight. Performance, fuel efficiency and reduced emissions are possible because of the Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) that controls the valve timing on the intake and exhaust valves.
With a lighter design, more safety features, and better fuel efficiency, the 2012 Impreza is sure to impress when it comes to dealerships this summer.
