Following in the footsteps of once truckish SUVs like the Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the newly unveiled 2011 Dodge Durango promises to balance car-like comfort with rugged capabilities.
Still boasting a roomy interior with three rows of seating, the big news is what’s under the hood. There’s the familiar 5.7-liter V8 that will deliver up to 7,800 pounds of towing capacity, and then there’s the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that’s no slouch in the towing department either, rated at 6,200 pounds. All-wheel drive (in lieu of traditional four-wheel drive) will be offered with both units. Stay tuned for fuel economy figures as those have yet to be released.
